A welcome home Christmas is one of my favorites. It means a lot to get the “first” address that is in front of our new neighbors. We welcome the “new” in our lives with a Christmas tree and then a festive greeting for the new year ahead. That first address should be a welcome home address. Here’s what that address should look like.
We have three children and a new puppy. This will be our first year as a family, so we want to make this year special for us and our guests. We want them to feel like we are home, that it is a “home” to them. We want to send out a message of welcome to our neighbors on Christmas Day. I’m going to share with you some of my favorite Christmas decorations for a welcome home address.
First I would have to share a Christmas tree topper with you for a special welcome message. To me a Christmas tree topper says so much. You can also choose something other than a Christmas tree topper such as a star, Santa Claus, a star cluster, or another holiday symbol that would be meaningful for our neighbors.
I would also suggest flowers and cards to send out to our neighbors on a very important day such as a Christmas holiday. I know many people don’t really put flowers in their mailboxes. I believe flowers are a great way to express your feelings. It also shows that you are thinking of them during this Christmas season.
Then I have something for our family to be excited about. We have two teenage daughters, so I would think that a welcome sign outside our home would be a good thing to start the New Year off right. There is nothing worse than having someone come in the door and see a giant sign outside with their name and address on it. That could potentially make them feel unwelcome in our home.
So how does someone set about designing a welcome home? Well, I think first you need to make sure you have a nice welcome sign. You can find a sign online or at a local store. A personalized one that has your family’s name and address on would be awesome and a great way to say hello to the new year.
Next you want to send out postcards to everyone on your mailing list that lives near you. Postcards can go a long way when it comes to spreading the word about a welcome home. Make sure that you take lots of pictures of the area you live in so that you can send them along with the postcard. I think that a picture is worth a thousand words.
Finally you want to make sure that your front door is always open for visitors. It is really the front door that people are going to be approaching most. Make sure that they know that you have a home to go to when they come in to visit. This is just the first step to welcoming your new family member or friend. It can be a little overwhelming at times, but if you keep a positive attitude and stay calm no problems will arise.
When Christmas comes and it is time for you to say goodbye to your loved ones, you need to do everything you can to commemorate their life. Make sure that you mark every moment that they were a part of your life by either having a special dinner together or get some family pictures done. Not only will you both cherish these memories forever but so will the people that were left behind when you went away for the holiday.
As a final gift to your loved ones before Christmas break make them a Christmas welcome home journal. Start the yearbook project as you are finishing up your Christmas gifts. It doesn’t have to be a traditional book like the yearbook you fill up during the school year. A nice, personalized one filled with your thoughts on all the wonderful times that you shared with your family and friends would be more than appreciated. If you can not find the time to write the yearbook, then just take a picture of your home with you and have your family members to write down what they remember about Christmas at your house.
The welcome token you give your family members should tell them that you are proud of them and the time that they spent with you. It does not have to be expensive or extravagant, but just a token that says thank you for sharing their time and love with you. There are many ways to say “thank you” through your tokens. You could give a personal item that has a sentimental value or maybe a poem. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you say thank you.
